Ingredients

  • 1 box Rigatoni noodles
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • ½ onion (diced)
  • 1 Tbsp minced garlic
  • 1 lb ground beef I like to use a leaner blend like 90/10
  • 1 Tbsp Italian seasoning
  • 2 tsp fennel seeds
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1 jar pasta sauce about 24 oz
  • ¼ cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup freshly grated parmesan plus more for serving
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  • In a large saucepan cook olive oil, onion, and garlic over medium heat until onions are translucent and garlic is fragrant.
  • Add ground beef and cook until there is no pink left and the meat starts to caramelize.
  • Add spices to the beef mixture and cook 1-2 minutes.
  • Add the jar or pasta sauce and let simmer for 15 minutes.
  • While sauce is cooking, bring a pot of salted water to a boil (when I say salty I mean like sea water salty) and cook noodles until al dente.
  • Drain noodles reserving about 1/2 cup of pasta water
  • Add cream to the pasta sauce and stir to combine.
  • Add noodles and parmesan cheese, stirring in pasta water as needed until pasta is creamy.
  • Taste and adjust for salt.
  • Serve and enjoy!
