Bread Pudding French Toast

I’ve been making this recipe for a while now but, I’ve recently found out that actual french toast is just bread dipped in egg and panned fried. This is 100% not that but, I have no other way to describe this other than french toast, so we’re going to go with it.

Bread Pudding French Toast

My version of the classic breakfast recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • ¼ tsp cinnamon
  • pinch salt
  • 4 slices thick sliced bread
  • 2 tbsp butter plus more for serving
  • maple syrup for serving

Instructions

  • In a shallow bowl, mix together egg, cream, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt and mix well to combine.
  • Heat a large pan over medium heat and melt butter.
  • Coat each side of bread well in custard mixture and once butter is bubbling, add soaked bread.
  • Cook on each side until golden brown on each side.
  • Serve with butter and maple syrup.

Notes

The milk and heavy cream can be subbed for half and half!
