Patty Melt
You can’t be a vision of health every day, and for the days the thought of kale makes you want to scream this burger is here to comfort you. This is my take on Steak and Shakes Frisco Melt, with caramelized onion (because they make everything better) and without the violent stomach pain that comes with the original.

Is it a grilled cheese, burger, or both?

Ingredients
- ½ lb ground beef
- 4 slices sandwich bread
- ¼ cup butter softened
- ½ white onion sliced thin
- 4 slices cheddar cheese
- ¼ tsp seasoned salt
Burger Sauce
- 2 tbsp mayonaise
- 1½ tbsp ketchup
- 1 tsp mustard
Instructions
Caramelized Onion
- Over medium low heat, melt butter in a pan and add sliced onion. Cook for 20-30 minutes stirring occasionally until caramelized. Set aside.
Burger Sauce
- Combine mayonnaise, ketchup, and mustard. Stir to combine and set aside.
Burger
- Form ground beef into two ¼lb patties, large enough to cover the sandwich bread. Season with seasoned salt and cook in a pan over medium high heat until brown on both sides. Drain on paper towels.
- To assemble, layer one slice of bread with desired amount of burger sauce, one cheese slice, caramelized onion, burger patty, another cheese slice, more burger sauce, and other slice of bread.
- Butter the outside of the sandwich and grill over medium heat, about 3-4 minutes per side or until golden brown.
